"Are you still at it?"
She nearly jumped out of her skin as her husband's hands came down on her shoulders and started rubbing away the knots. Her concentration broken, she sat back on a sigh from where she had been avidly writing away the hours. "Of course I'm still at it! It's a long story long overdue for telling."
"Well, it's very late, and I'm here to do my job as Caretaker and make you go to bed before you pass out on the keys, again, and make the maids scold you."
She grinned up at him. "As if you're not as interested as anyone else how the story will end."
"I know how the story ends. I was there, remember?" He drew her up out of the chair. "Where were you anyway?"
"Somewhere between Eras, so to speak."
He smiled. "Ah, of course. A lot happened in that gray area."
"Okay, that pun actually hurt. Take me to bed before I get pulled back into my work."
He just laughed. "As my queen insists."
